The weekend is almost here, which means it’s time to get your movie list ready! Grab some popcorn and a slice of your favorite Alley dessert, and get to watching these bowling movies ? ? 

1. The Big Lebowski (1998):

While intended for adults (rated R), this film is widely considered to be one of the best bowling movies of all time. This film highlights the bowling alley as a refuge, and a place that is always there for you in moments of stress. To quote Walter Sobchak, “Dude, let’s go bowling.” 

2. Kingpin (1996):

A comedy rated PG-13, Kingpin tells the tale of Roy Munson and his perceived discovery of the next bowling prodigy, Ishmael. As reviewed on RookieRoad.com, “This movie is funny and absurd at the same time”. You either love it or hate it!  

3. Dreamer (1979):

 If you’re a fan of the classic underdog story (Karate Kid, anyone?) Dreamer is a good one for you to try. An up-and-coming bowler from a small town, going up against an already established champion. Need we say more?  

4. Alley Cats Strike (2000):

The perfect option for kids, this Disney movie takes place in Appleton, a town with 2 rival high schools that must settle a basketball tie with a bowling competition. Featuring awkward encounters and funny one-liners, this is a great one for the whole family! 

5. A League of Ordinary Gentlemen (2004):

For the fact-finders and historians out there, this documentary follows a group of bowlers in their mission to revive the sport of bowling by breaking stereotypes and showcasing the behind-the-scenes of the industry. Meant for those who love bowling, and those who have yet to decide. Give this a shot. You’ll be impressed!
