5 Bowling Slang Terms To Make You Sound Like A Pro!
Have you ever found yourself spending a day at the lanes, listening confusedly to other parties talking about “spares”, “turkeys”, and “pockets”? Well, worry not, because we’re here to provide you with 5 extra bowling terms that you can use during your next game. You’ll be sure to leave the alley sounding (and bowling!) like the pro you are!
1. “Lofting”
when you throw the ball so it hits the lane hard instead of rolling smoothly (this is often a problem of timing release!)
2. “Moat”
another term for referring to the gutter
3. “Dead Wood”
pins that have been knocked over, but stay sitting on the lane or in the gutter, as a result of the machine missing them during clearing
4. “Backup Ball”
a ball thrown with a reverse spin: for right-handers, it hooks from L to R, and for left-handers, it hooks from R to L
5. “Badger”
once you’ve made a Turkey (3-strikes), next up is a Badger!
