July 2022 | Backyard Bowling

DIY Backyard Bowling for the 4th of July!

Here is a quick, easy, and affordable DIY hack that you can try at home with your kids, ensuring your whole family a wonderful day of celebration on the lanes:

Supplies

10 empty drink bottles (1L size is best, but any will do)

Food coloring (any colors)

1 soccer ball or volleyball

Your driveway or backyard

Instructions

1. Rinse the bottles so that they’re clean, and remove any labels from the outside.

2. Fill bottles to the base of the neck with water (make sure all the bottles are filled to the same height!).

3. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bottle – feel free to get creative with your color choices.

4. Screw the caps back on tightly, and make sure your bottles have no dents or cracks.

5. Find a long stretch of space (driveway, backyard, or garage) and set up your bottle “pins” on one end in the classic 4-3-2-1 set up. Traditional bowling lanes are 60 feet long, but use whatever space you have!

6. Grab a few small to medium sized balls (soccer balls and volley balls will work just fine) and set them aside at the base of your lane.

7. Start the game, and have fun!

Have you ever tried backyard bowling at home? Do you think you’ll give this a shot?
